I am running for Mayor as a "Write-In" Candidate because I believe that my skillset in the Business Environment makes me uniquely qualified to address some of the concerns I see with the City of Gilbert.
I would like to address some key concerns that I feel need to be addressed:
1) Taxes and Financial Responsibility
I think that we need someone who can help reduce the burden that the citizens face. I believe we can review the budget and spending and help to reduce the increased fees and taxes that we citizens have to pay. I am confident that myself, as well as the team of councilors who are running can collectively work as a group to address these spending patterns and find ways to help put that money to better use with less waste and better application. The citizens are paying more in fees and taxes to cover the areas where spending has been mismanaged in the past.
2) Revitalize Downtown
I want to explore options and try to figure out how we can attract new businesses to town and make our downtown a place where people want to be! I've heard from another citzens who is running for councilor and he said it right--Gilbert is currently a city that "people drive through and not drive to." I agree with that statement and I want to look into ways to utilize the tools that the city has available to attract new business and to find ways to get people to come stop in our city and make purchases. With my skills in business I feel that my experience in project management and cost review as well as marketing tactics we can try to start to rebuild and revitalize our downtown. The potential is there, we have a great framework to build, we simply need to craft a plan and effectively execute it.
3) Increase Community Involvement
I want to look into things that the City of Gilbert can do to get the community more involved and have more things for us to do in town and spend time enjoying activities in the city we all reside in! As a parent, I often times look for events that are going on during weekends and find things for my family to do. I want to explore what the City of Gilbert can do to host events for the community and increase participation of these events. Right now, Gilbert doesn't have many things that we host compared to the other cities in our area. I believe that we can entertain ideas and find a common solution to help bring activities and find ways so the people that live in Gilbert can find joy in the events that are hosted. I want us to all be Gilbert Proud!
